Civil War Brass Identification Disc-Nevin's Pennsylvania Artillery Battery

American Civil War brass ID disc belonging to Private Patrick Cassidy, of Battery H Pennsylvania Independent Light Artillery (Nevin's Battery). Obverse of disc presents bust portrait of Major General McClellan facing left with "War of 1861" beneath. Reverse of disc presents stamped lettering "PATRICK CASSIDY NEVIN'S IND'P. PA. BATTERY TEMPERANCEVILLE ALLEGHENY CO. PA.". Disc measures 1.2" in diameter. Surface of badge exhibits toned patina with some wear. Patrick Cassidy enlisted and was mustered into Pennsylvania Battery H Light Artillery (Nevin's Battery) on October 8, 1862. He died at Camp Berry, Washington D.C. on June 13, 1863. He is buried in the United States Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery, Washington D.C.. Provenance: Gary Wolfer collection.
