Transitional Model Evans carbine in .44 cal with 22" round barrel with top of barrel marked"Evans Repeating Rifle Mechanic Falls Me./Pat, Dec. 8, 1868 & Sept. 16, 1871". This 28-round carbine presents assembly numbers"5" stamped on underside of barrel and on underside of checkered forestock and"268" stamped in underside of wood upper stock and stamped in underside of wood lower stock. Carbine presents good bore with surface of gun exhibiting a graying patina and wear. Wood in good condition with some surface abrasions. Rod/screw near forestock on action is missing. Firing spring is defective.
