Colt Model 1855 'Root' Sidehammer Pocket Revolver with Holster

Colt Model 1855 'Root' Sidehammer Pocket (Model 2) revolver bearing the serial #21785 (matching serial numbers) in .28 caliber percussion. Pistol presents a 3.5" octagonal barrel. Top of barrel present two-line stamping in two-portions"COLT PT 1855" and "ADDRESS COL COLT HARTFORD CT USA". The cylinder presents "COLTS PATENT No" followed by serial number and shows cabin and Indian scene. Serial number indicates that the pistol was manufactured in 1859. Pistol exhibits much of its bluing and case hardening. Pistol exhibits minimal abrasions and digs to wood grips. Gun would rate fine to excellent in NRA antique firearms standards. Pistol is housed in period leather holster that exhibits some dryness and cracking. Provenance: Gary S. Wolfer Collection
