Colt Model 1848 Baby Dragoon revolver bearing the serial #9504 (matching serial numbers) in .31 caliber percussion. Pistol presents a 5" octagonal barrel. Top of barrel present two-line stamping "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY". with left side of frame stamped "COLTS/PATENT in two lines. The cylinder is stamped"COLTS PATENT" followed by serial number and is engraved with a Texas Ranger and Indian fight scene. Serial number indicates that the pistol was manufactured in 1849. Pistol exhibits much of its bluing and case hardening and exhibits good silvering to backstrap and trigger guard. Pistol exhibits minimal abrasions and digs to wood grips. Cylinder exhibits some light spotting. Gun would rate fine to excellent in NRA antique firearms standards. Provenance: Gary S. Wolfer Collection
