DESCRIPTION:Alderfer Auction is proud to present the Estate of Julius an
 d Anna Herz of Riegelsville\, Pa. Born in Vienna\, Dr. Julius 
 Herz fought against the Nazis in the Austrian Resistance as 
 a young man. He eventually came to the US and became a Germa
 n Language professor at several Universities until he ended 
 up at Temple University. He was married to the love of his l
 ife\, Anna Pirscenok who was born in Bethlehem\, Pa. Anna earn
 ed her RN from Hahnemann College and served in the Army Nurs
 e Corps during WWII. She also earned her B.S. and Ph.D. from
  the University of Pennsylvania along with a master's degree
  from Columbia University. She was head of Modern Foreign La
 nguages at Lehigh University and became the first woman depa
 rtment chair in Lehigh’s history. Anna loved to travel and
  took many trips abroad\, especially to Russia with fellow fa
 culty and alumni in the Language department. Their home was 
 often a place for entertaining guests and colleagues. Their 
 estate is filled with memories of their travels and friends 
 abroad. The auction features a large collection of Russian I
 cons\, numerous hand-painted Russian Nesting Dolls or Matryos
 hka Dolls\, Russian Lacquer boxes\, etchings and engravings\, W
 aterford Crystal\, Royal Vienna Porcelain\, oil paintings\, mil

 auction also features concrete planters\, Oriental rugs\, and 
 an extensive stamp collection.
