 y out of their home of over 50 years. A distinguished schola
 r of ancient Persian language\, literature\, and culture\, Dr. 
 Hanaway was a longtime professor at the University of Pennsy
 lvania. During Bill’s career\, they lived at various times 
 in Iran\, England and Italy. In addition\, Bill traveled exten
 sively in Iran\, Afghanistan and around the Middle East.   
 Bill and Lorraine shared a love of New York City\, and of boo
 ks\, walking\, opera\, world travel\, and the outdoors.  This e
 state auction highlights two main collecting areas: Furnitur
 e and Ceramics. The furniture selection includes carved woo
 d pieces such as a credenza with floral panels\, a pair of ti
 lt-top tables by OneidaCraft\, and a marble top cabinet with 
 brass pulls and interior storage. The ceramics category feat
 ures Japanese and English porcelain\, including a floral tea 
 set\, a Johnson Bros dinnerware group\, and various blue-and-w
 hite and floral-patterned serving pieces. Additional offerin
 gs span a range of decorative and historical items\, includin
 g a gilded wall mirror\, a red upholstered armchair with rope
 -twist detailing\, and a framed Metropolitan Opera display wi
 th a 1940 playbill and Kirsten Flagstad signature. The aucti
 on reflects a tastefully curated household with an emphasis

 memorabilia.
