DESCRIPTION:Dr. Thomas and Dr. Julia Duane moved to Bucks County\, PA in 
 1949\, developing a passion for collecting early American ant
 iques. Thomas\, born in Peoria\, IL in 1917\, had a family hist
 ory tied to Ireland and a successful career in medicine\, ear
 ning degrees from prestigious institutions. Julia\, born in W
 ashington\, IA in 1917\, also had a medical degree and dedicat
 ed her skills to pediatrics\, including a program for incarce
 rated women and their children. The Duane's chose Bucks Coun
 ty for its natural beauty and restored a 200-year-old farmho
 use with care\, furnishing it with authentic antiques. Thomas
  excelled in ophthalmology and made significant contribution
 s to space flight medicine\, receiving accolades for his work
 . Julia focused on her practice and teaching\, while also act
 ively collecting antiques with Thomas. After Thomas passed a
 way from Parkinson's disease\, Julia continued to live on the
  farm until her death. The property\, preserved through an ag
 ricultural program\, remains a natural scenic site in Bucks C
 ounty. The collection of early American antiques housed on t
 he farm is now being auctioned by Alderfer Auction.
