Large Civil War grouping related to Captain William D. Reitzel and his service in the 2nd PA Volunteer Reserve Corps and the 195th PA Infantry. Grouping includes 1) belt with lead-filled brass buckle (square with eagle overlay); 2) bull's-eye canteen with cover and strap, lacking plug and chain; 3) eagle breastplate with manufacturer's stamp "J.I. Pittman"; 4) US beltplate; 5) GAR medal; 6) cap box containing 5 Minie balls, leather exhibits some dryness and breaks; 7) tinted 7"x5" albumin of Reitzel, full-standing in uniform with sword; 8) small tin-type bust-view of Reitzel in uniform; 9) cabinet card of Reitzel (same as #7); 10) ruby ambrotype of Reitzel in uniform; 11) Civil War period diary kept by Reitzel, diary in pencil with some battle content descriptions, writing is light with damage to diary and no covers; 12) 50+ enlistment forms for members of the 2nd PRVC; 13) single iron spur; 14) 150+ letters, documents, and official forms related to Reitzel's Civil War service, pension, and family members; 15) 3 CDVs (2 bust view of Reitzel in uniform, 1 of Reitzel with wife in civilian clothes); 16) cabinet card of Reitzel in civilian clothes;17) booklet titled 'Last Charge at Gettysburg"; 18) CDV of John Schroeder, company K, 195th PA; 19) discharge of Reitzel as captain of the 195th PA.
